Our oldest member, Chris Lotz, age
95, passed away on July 22, 2000, in a house fire. (His house caught
fire in the kitchen and he was unable to get out. Chris had bad legs and could
hardly walk. He was found in the bathroom.) Chris was loved by all of us.
He enjoyed coming to our monthly meetings and to the quarterly luncheons.
He really did love those donuts!
Chris was an inventor in his day. He invented the mechanical rabbit for the dog
track. He came to West Palm Beach in 1925 with the phone company to install the
first rotary phone system of 500 phones.
Chris was initiated into IBEW #323 October 1, 1937 and retired March 1,
1974. He was a faithful member of the local. Chris was very proud of the fact that he moved the press room of the
Palm Beach Post Newspaper press to its new location ensuring the presses never
stopped.

Brother Chris was truly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Chris was the fifth retired member in our club to pass away this year. We
also dedicate our
memorial blessing to the other beloved brothers who have recently
passed: Tommy Henderson, Charles Wolf, Leonard Johnson, and Weems
Holland. On behalf of IBEW #728 we welcome you to visit our Memorial
Wall honoring all of our fallen brothers.
---With sincere regrets from the Retirees Club of IBEW L.U. #323.
